Solar Sol
Jua, Hii Jua ni Kali (yaani ni noma saaaaaana)
A Benin Sun Rise and A Ghana Sun Set
THE DAWNISH SUN
this dawnish sun
with several shades
dawns on me
yellow of a marigold,
an orange so sweet and
a tenderly washed-out blue
this dawn draws out
over the sky temporally
till it convinces you to try again
this dawn glides gently on the tips of palm fronds
urgent with the morning bird
"You must join me in ushering a new cycle"
this dawn does not cower
while clouds join the gaiety
it instead pierces through possibilities
the dawnish sun is stretching
its salamander toes
across my vision today
and finally
an even sheet
blankets over our upper dome
I will, try again A SUNSET SOUNDTRACK
machweo’s melody is here
with an insistent double meter
warning a quick ending
ejaculate spilling before you could let out a yawn
before you can taste her hues
she’s departed
then an upturned moon emerges
almost like the unlucky numbers
‘neath a scratched lottery card
my moon
does not yet disable the sun
sun inside a man
who’s stepped out to glimpse at the quiet coitus
and pop, snap, twist goes his body
perfectly aligned
as if this sunset’s melody is too litty to ignore
to let it be just another passerby
“I want you, sun, to see my sun”
I will dance in your wane
for my petals to vibrate
as you morph every 2 seconds
quick,
fleeting
immortal,
beguiling
This past Sunday (jana), I attended my first of “The Queer Times” book club discussion/yoga/breathwork sessions. What a soul-filling moment to be in community and to imagine the possibilities of non-traditional living scenarios — something I have imagined and would like for myself. Our discussion was guided by the book: Two Women Living Together by Kim Hana and Hwang Sunwoo - a depiction of the ins, outs and throughs of two platonic friends who bought a house and decided to live together.
CHEERS!
